Lucrecia Lindemann and husband Jeffrey Beird have redefined the term power couple.
Taking the real estate market and yachting market by the horns they have exceeded expectations. Miami Living sat down with Lucrecia and Jeff to discuss their busy lives together.
Q: Jeffrey, so how does it feel to be the yacht king? Or, is Lucrecia really the king (laughing)
Lucrecia (interrupts with an uhummmmm)
Jeff: I like to keep a slightly lower profile than my wife. If anything comes to my mind in that context I am the king of getting the best price and saving the most money for my clients with smart strategies.
Q: Did you work with Lucrecia before you were married?
Jeff: When we first met we always envisioned working together and the synergies we could provide. It has gelled nicely for the past 5 years as the economy and the stock market have risen dramatically.
Q: What was the motivation behind getting your real estate license?
Jeff: I worked on Wall Street for 10 years managing stock portfolios. I have always had an interest in understanding the strategies of real estate investing. Real estate and stock investing are the 2 largest asset classes of the wealthy.
Q: How do you and Lucrecia find that combining forces will help you optimize sales?
A-JB: Look, when you go into a doctors office and they have the best oral surgeon and the best dentist and they work side by side with great efficiencies and can save you 5 to 20% it is really an easy choice.
Q: Do you feel being a team is better than working alone?
Jeff: I truly feel that to achieve things in life you must be a team player. Nothing phenomenal is achieved by going it alone. "Team work makes your dream work."
Q: Are you a local Miami resident? I understand you don't speak Spanish, correct? Has that hurt you when it comes to sales or procuring new clients?
Jeff: Yes, I am local and have been coming to Miami for the last 20 years. I have lived here for 10. I speak a small amount of Spanish, however it has never deterred me from doing business. If I ever have difficulty Lucrecia is always there to help.
Q: A yacht is a toy for most men. How do you view the market today?
Jeff: The market is strong for me . My group and I do between 1 to 3 sales per month. Our process of high professional websites, magazine and TV marketing really penetrates the market to get the word out about my listings. We constantly have a new flow of prospects and listings.
Q: What yachts do you specialize in selling?
Jeff: I specialize in Motoryachts, between 40 and 150 feet. Most of these are great for Biscayne Bay or the Bahamas. My favorite yachting company is Ferretti out of Italy. The craftsmanship and performance is highly rated throughout the world. They also make a fast stunning express yacht which is the 64' Pershing and is pictured below. It has a top speed of 44 Knots and can sleep up to 6 people all in their own stateroom. This one below I have for sale at $2.3 MM which is around $700k less than what they are new.
Q: What is the largest or may I say most luxurious listing?
Jeff: 120 very fast Motoryacht better known as "The Moon Goddess." The horsepower was close to 8000HP. The yacht was on many magazine covers, I had it featured in People Magazine where I did a photo shoot with a celebrity.
Q: Describe to me what you said earlier about customized solutions and how a client would benefit. Give me a scenario.
Jeff: So you own a waterfront home/condo and a yacht. You just received that big promotion and you have to move to California. We would list the yacht and house and provide a customize fee strategy. A proposal that no one can beat to save you on fees as opposed to working with two different agents on the yacht and real estate end. We also have other strategies that we use that are similar to customer loyalty credits that can save up to 500k or more on a transaction.
Q: You do a lot of marketing we all see you and Lucrecia everywhere. Do think internet marketing has taken you to a higher level? Who does your marketing?
Jeff: Absolutley. Our expertise is something that has been noted throughout the years. The way it is put out and circulated is something that is key to letting everyone know who your go to team is for real estate and yachting needs. Our marketing partner has taken us to that level and it allows us to take the cyber world and dominate in every aspect. Our marketing division is our partner you can call it our "secret sauce."
Q: You are a working man and a family man. You have 3 daughters. Tell me about them.
Jeff: Oh yes. A lot of estrogen in this house. I am a double minority. I'm American and male. Our oldest (which is my wife's daughter from her previous marriage is 14 and her name is Kayla. We have 2 more daughters: Victoria 6 and Lauren 5. Good kids, never a dull moment. I have my work cut out for me. I speak princess now, I have no choice.
Q: You seem pretty busy your phone is buzzing like crazy and not to mention Lucrecia siting right next to you (laughing)
Jeff: Lucrecia has a work ethic that has rubbed off quite a bit on me. I think its a latin thing, don't get me wrong, its good. I'm a more the laid back type of guy and she, well, puts the energizer in the energizer bunny! So here I am always on call always available and never turn the phone off. That's her motto and it seems to work quite well.
Q: With all the business do you ever have a chance to vacation?
Jeff: I live where most people vacation. That is the nature of the business we are in. Apart from that we basically conduct business and make deals happen no matter where we are. Our deals get done wherever our phone is. Whether it is on a gondala in Apsen, lounging in Bakers Bay or my wife's European itches, deals are happening. No matter what time zone we are in!
Q: I know you have a meeting to go to and want to thank you for your time and If I don't let you go I'm sure Lucrecia will probably make a dent in your leg as I see her kicking you with a smile (laughing).
Lucrecia: You know how it goes, if you're not available someone else will be. Duty calls, time to polish the crowns.
